I think you could really benefit from going though drawabox. I thought it was a bunch of garbage and just a way to get money out of us poor students.

Before the 20th century, artists practiced drawing from life for several hours a day for years, and I don’t think they used anything like Nicolaides blind contour scribbles.

All times nicoolaides GMT Charles Sovek wrote a guide to oil painting that supposedly is influenced by Nicolaides’ approach. I read this book back jimon and reread it over and over. When I relax and just let my hand move I like the lines that I can make but I find that I can’t always control them and keep them looking nice.

If that method of learning doesn’t excite you, then you might want to learn knitting or something else instead. Books by Kimon Nicolaides. When I let myself go and follow the instructions it’s just plain fun and the result is great art.

Nicolaides says that you should spend over thirty minutes or even an hour on some of these studies and I did, but I felt that I got the best results when I finished them in minutes. Kimon Nicolaides and The Natural Way to Draw

Kumon all threads started by Eugene Veszely. This is the best book on drawing that I own or have read. Some students may want to perfect in, say, proportion, form modeling, or edge, etc. I’ve heard of many different methods but Kimon stresses focusing on motion and not lifting your pencil off of the page.

It seems to me that certain poses lend themselves more or less to certain methods. Nicolaides’ work is brilliant.

Nicolaides really stress trying to get the feeling that your pencil is touching the figure. I avoided books like this like the plague because I could never “wrap my brain around that abstract thinking gobbledygook.
