The book begins with formalism probability measures and sigma-fields and asks for application almost immediately–there is little hand-holding. This is not a book for people who need only basics. Emphasis is on modelling rather than abstraction and there are new sections on sampling and Markov chain Monte Carlo, renewal-reward, queueing networks, stochastic calculus, and option pricing abd the Black-Scholes model for financial markets.
