When I attended a sold out Amon Amarth/Testament gig in London on November 4th, I was fully prepared to take of my academic hat, and to enjoy the gig as a fan. 15 minutes into the show, I was made fully aware that this was not going to happen: unfortunately, my academic brain does not turn off so easily.

The deadline for submissions for the next issue of Metal Music Studies (3.2) is 10 December 2016. We accept submissions any time but you need to hit that deadline to be in with a chance of getting your paper in 3.2. Full-sized papers (5-8k) can be emailed to Karl Spracklen (K.Spracklen@leedsbeckett.ac.uk), short 1-3k pieces to Niall Scott (firstname.lastname@example.org).
