Since the recent board elections at the Boundaries and Ties Conference in Victoria, British Columbia, we have one vacancy on ISMMS Board. We would like those interested in running for this position to send Toni-Matti Karjalainen a brief (150 word) biography as well as a 200-word statement explaining your qualifications and why you would like to be on the board.
It is important to note that in the next year we will be losing two female members from the board, Amber Clifford-Napoleone (Treasurer) and Claudia Azevedo (Ordinary Member), so we are especially interested in keeping a fairly equal number of men and women on the board. We encourage any women who are interested in running for the position to please do so. This does not mean we don’t want men to run, but we are hopeful that there will be several options from which to select.
We would like materials to be sent to Toni-Matti (email@example.com) by Monday, September 4. Elections will follow soon after.
You may remember that prior to the Boundaries and Ties Conference at the University of Victoria (which by the way was a huge success) the Executive Board sent out ballots for two positions which would be changing this year. The elections were held and the results are as follows: Bryan Bardine was chosen as the new ISMMS Chair, replacing Niall Scott, and Nelson Varas-Diaz was elected to replace outgoing Imke von Helden.
